The Heritage Commission performs a number of important functions. The staff and volunteers collect and organize North American Baptist Conference-related materials, provide research services, manage the archives, encourage the translation from German to English of key historical documents, inform our members concerning significant happenings, as well as many other archive-related activities.
- Assisting those who request information about the NAB churches, former pastors or members - often for anniversary and/or genealogical purposes.
- Accessing the archival holdings to researchers desiring to visit the Archives to do extensive research themselves.
- Preserving and managing original records, pictures, and other artifacts of NAB churches and organizations.
- Publishing the newsletter Heritage Horizons
- Displaying museum items for public viewing
 
We extend to you a warm invitation to participate with us in preserving the rich history of the North American Baptist Conference in one of the following ways:
- Become a member of the Heritage Commission. More details on the Contact Us page.
- Membership in the Heritage Commission can be on an individual basis, on a church basis, or on a church organization basis (such as the library, Sunday School class, senior citizens group). Members receive the Heritage Commission's newsletter called the Heritage Horizons which comes out three times a year.
- Send in anniversary booklets, old minutes, photographs, and brochures of special events of your church. Donate photographs with names and dates of NAB Conference-related leaders, buildings or events.
- When donating photographs, please do your best to indicate the names of the people pictured as well as the date the photograph was taken or when the event took place.
- Donate Conference publications, especially individual issues of Der Sendbote.
- Send in articles, books, or museum artifacts which deal with the history of NAB local churches, regional associations/conferences or International office.
- Donate artifacts from NAB mission fields: Cameroon, Nigeria, Japan, Philippines, Brazil or Mexico.
- Pray for the Heritage Commission that as it grows, more space and funds can be found to support its operation.
- Become the historian of your local church. Inform us of this, so we can send you helpful guidelines.
